Mendes beat her out in the contest. In February 2014, she won her first significant win during her Elimination Chamber Episode where she defeated AJ Lee to become Divas Champion. The pair took on Lee once more in the same episode and lost her title. Ariana was later matched with Lee for an opportunity to win the Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational title, which was which was won by Lee. Also, in July 2014, Ariana was with Naomi Natalya Eva Marie Rosa Mendes Summer Rae to take against Nikki Bella for a 6-on-1 handicap match. Ariana showed up only to attack Nikki Bella as well as Naomi. On the Battleground pre-show, she was in a match with Naomi. In that match Ariana won over Naomi. At the end of the day, it led to their feud. Through the summer they engaged in several handicap singles and tag match matches.
